Temporary Local Rules

Preferred Lies – On all areas of the course cut to fairway height
When any part of a player’s ball touches part of the general area that has been cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once, by placing the ball no more than one club length, no nearer the hole from the original position of the ball.
Note: There is no free relief from aeration holes on the putting green.
Current Course Playing Conditions
The following playing conditions are in effect:
1. Staked Trees and Shrubs
With significant new plantings, members are reminded that complete relief must be taken from all trees, shrubs or grass tufts that are staked or guarded, if they interfere with the lie of the ball, intended stance or the area of intended swing.
[Refer to Applying the Local Rules – Young Trees, Shrubs and Grasses]
2. Organic Matting
The organic matting used in revegetation areas other than No Play Zones (such as between the 10th and 11th holes) is ‘integral to the course’ and the ball must be played as it lies, or unplayable ball relief taken.
3. 4th Hole
A No Play Zone (marked by black stakes) applies to the left-hand side of the fairway, adjacent to the bunker. The nearest point of complete relief must be taken in the general area (i.e. not in the bunker).
[Refer to Applying the Local Rules – “Where to Take Relief”]
4. 5th and 6th Holes
A No Play Zone (marked by black stakes) along the left-hand side of the 5th hole starts approx. 100 metres from the teeing area, continues for the full length of the fairway, including the newly formed mounding up to and around the rear of the 5th green and adjacent to the 6th tee.
The excavated area between the 5th and 6th holes is a No Play Zone.
A ball coming to rest in sandy areas adjoining the newly built tees and NPZ’s is to be played as it lies.
[Refer to Applying the Local Rules – “Where to Take Relief”]
5. 13th Hole
A No Play Zone (marked by black stakes) between the 13th hole and newly constructed 15th hole is in effect. When playing the 13th, relief must be taken at the nearest point of complete relief.
[Refer to Applying the Local Rules – “Where to Take Relief”]
6. 15th Hole
A No Play Zone (marked by black stakes) has been positioned down the left-hand side of the 15th fairway, continues for the full length of the fairway, including the newly formed mounding up and around the rear of the 15th green adjacent to the 16th teeing area. The NPZ extends from the black stakes to the Northern (airport side) Boundary.
When playing the 15th, relief must be taken at the nearest point of complete relief.
[Refer to Applying the Local Rules – “Where to Take Relief”]
7. 17th Hole
The No Play Zone (marked by black stakes) marks the newly formed mounding up and around the rear of the 17th green, adjacent to the 15th and 18th teeing areas. Relief must be taken at the nearest point of complete relief, no nearer the hole.
[Refer to Applying the Local Rules – “Where to Take Relief”]
8. 17th Hole – OOB
The Out of Bounds on the left-hand side of the hole, has been moved from the boundary fence and follows the eastern side of the penalty area.
If your ball is Out of Bounds, you must either play another ball from the point where you last played and incur a one stroke penalty (called stroke-and-distance) or if you have played a provisional ball, that ball becomes the ‘ball in play’.
NOTE: The Local Rules for Club Competitions and Applying the Local Rules are available on the GGC and miscore phone apps, and the Rules of Golf (available atwww.randa.org) apply to all situations.
