Hole 12 Information
The 12th tee takes full advantage of its location as the highest point on the course; also one of the highest points on the Adelaide Plains. Vistas can be enjoyed to the coast, city, Mt Lofty Ranges and as far south as O’Halloran Hill, as well as more immediate views over the course.
On this short par 5, the drive is best placed in the right half of the fairway to gain a view of the green but must avoid two sighter bunkers through the fairway that eliminate any thought of reaching the green in two. Don’t forget the hybrid bunker that is long left on the inside of the dog leg which can only be seen from the forward tees. This comes into play for the big hitter attempting to shorten the hole.
The most memorable and unique green on the course requires plenty of strategy depending on the pin position that can be pushed out to the back left corner or back right corner into the “dell”. The green is heavily protected by one of our deepest approach bunkers on the course and a fescue ridge running diagonally from the front left corner.
Pay close attention to the flag on the day and let the contours feed the ball in for you instead of attacking the direct line or you may end up in the tall fescue with a difficult recovery. Leaving your 2nd shot long and left of the front fescue ridge can be a very favourable approach allowing you direct access to the back left and right pins. Have fun in this green setting and take it all in.
