Meet The Team

Shane Robinson

Head Professional & Director of Golf Operations

I took up golf at 13 years old and was immediately hooked. I represented SA in junior and senior competition and was chosen to represent Australia in the Sloan Morphet Trophy in New Zealand and the Eisenhower Cup in Stockholm, Sweden.

I earned my Australian PGA Tour card after returning to Australia from a scholarship based in Houston Texas in 1989.

The highlight of my professional career was winning two Australian PGA Tour events, the 1994 New Zealand Open, the 1995 Coolum Classic and a $100,000 hole-in-one at the 1999 Greg Norman International at The Australian GC.

I took a role as Director of Golf at McCracken Country Club from 2002 – 2006, and then General Manager at Tanunda Golf Club in the Barossa Valley for 5 years.

Since taking on my roles at Glenelg Golf club in 2011 I have recruited some amazing staff who help supply the energy, passion and drive that is required to carry out the multitude of tasks that encompass the Golf Operations and Pro Shop services of a of a Group One Golf Club.

David Rice

Golf Operations Manager

David’s experience in Golf goes back to 2015, having held the position of General Manager at Sandy Creek Golf Club for fours years, before joining the team right here at Glenelg in 2019, as Clubhouse Operations Manager. Having left the industry to take up General Management positions in Tourism and Hospitality, David was excited to move back into Golf early in 2023, following a sea change from the Barossa Valley to Glenelg.

I am a former AIS Coach, National Coach with Golf Australia and State Coach for both SA Men’s and Women’s teams.

I have enjoyed success at both National and International level in both Team and Individual coaching with highlights having coached two winners of the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship.

I love to improve golfers scores and enjoy coaching golfers in the art of short game and scoring. I like to focus “Inside 50” and runs golf schools in this area and I’m also the only Aimpoint Express accredited coach in Adelaide.

Adam Bland

Teaching Professional & Touring Professional

I am so excited to have the opportunity to bring my 20 years of professional golf experience, knowledge and expertise to your members.

Although Adelaide has been my home since the age of six, I have spent much of my adult life travelling the world playing professional golf and learning from some of the best coaches and playing some of the best golf courses. I’m now trading my 14A plane seat for a fold-up chair at the Saturday morning Grade 4 Craigburn Primary cricket matches, and couldn’t be happier.

A bit of a bio for those who are interested: My first win was the WA PGA in 2005, and I was fortunate enough to win twice on the Canadian Golf Tour in 2007/08. I have played on the European Tour and Nationwide Tour (now Cornferry Tour), came second in the Australian Masters in 2010 and second on the Australian Tour Order of Merit in 2017. My most recent win was the Blitz golf event in Melbourne in January, which is always a fun event, and one that everyone should get to, should they get the chance! My most successful win to date was the Japan PGA in 2015. After all of that, probably my favourite experience on tour was playing an Open Championship at St Andrews, which was my second of three British Open events.

Sue Robinson

Pro Shop Staff

I have always been drawn to sport since becoming the youngest Open Club Champion at the Grange Lawn Tennis Club at the age of 12.

I enrolled in an Outdoor Fitness Leadership Course and Regency TAFE and was introduced to the sport of Snow Skiing. I then worked at the Crystal Mountain Ski resort located just North of Seattle where I became a qualified Cert 3 ski instructor.

After spending 7 years teaching at various locations including Austria and Thredbo, I took a role with Qantas in customer relations at Adelaide Airport. An opportunity arose to be transferred to Los Angeles which I jumped at, living in Santa Monica.

Upon my return, I worked as a pharmaceutical rep for Essex Pharma, before meeting my husband, Shane, and starting a family in Adelaide. I love my role here at Glenelg and pride myself on the great relationships I’ve forged with the Members and staff.
