Preliminary earthworks have commenced today on the western car park extension.
The preliminary works by the Club’s earthmoving contractor, Malcolm Williams, will see existing vegetation and green waste buried and clean fill mined for use as screen mounding around the completed car park extension. Preliminary works are expected to take approximately one week with the final site cleared and leveled, ready for main construction works later this year.
Engineering and pavement plans are being finalised for the project with redevelopment works being put out to tender shortly thereafter. It was hoped that work could commence in early September with an expected completion date around mid-late September, ready for the Club’s busy spring/summer season of golf and functions. However, issues regarding drainage are still being carefully considered to ensure there are no long term problems faced by the extension works. We still plan to have works completed before the spring/summer rush.
Funding has been allocated in the Club’s 2015 capital expenditure budget and final costs will be determined once tenders have been received.
Club member and former COM representative, David Gillespie, has kindly volunteered his expert services to assist the Club in the management of this project to ensure the work is undertaken within budget and completed on time.
