Trial changes to Sunday competitions

During the month of February, a number of new competition initiatives will be trialled on Sundays designed to add variety to the golfing experience for members and guests.

Black Course / White Course Option for men

For men, players will have the option of choosing to play from the black tees or the white tees, whilst still competing in the same competition.  For women, no options will be available initially, however this will be reviewed during the month with feedback welcome from players.

Under the new Golf Australia handicap system introduced last year, each course option available (whether that is the Black, Blue, White or Green course for men, or Red, Yellow or Green for women) has its own slope rating which influences what your daily handicap is each time you play.  By offering two course options on Sundays, members and their guests will have the opportunity to choose whether to challenge themselves on the longer Black course, or play the shorter White course, with your daily handicap being adjusted accordingly.

An initial trial last Sunday saw 40 or so players choosing the black tee option, with the remaining field (approx. 60 or so) playing from the whites.

Pro Shop staff will be on hand to answer any questions you have.

9 Hole Competition

Another new initiative to be trialled during February will be the introduction of a 9-hole competition on Sundays.

For those who cannot commit the time to a full 18-hole round of golf, or would simply prefer to play nine holes only, this option will be available to players until 3:30pm.  The 9-hole competition will be on the front nine only, and will not be available to those players who enter the 18-hole competition.

Please note: A 9-hole competition will not be run on Sunday, 15th February 2015 due to the Club hosting the McMillan Shield junior matchplay competition.
