It is with sadness we advise Members of the passing of Jan Wheatley aged 90.
Jan was a longstanding and well-respected Member of Glenelg Golf Club, having been a Member for 63 years. Jan had a significant impact on our Club, and her efforts and contributions were recognised in 2010 when she was inducted into life membership.
Some of Jans highlights include:
- Joined on 1st May 1961
- Inducted as a Life Member in 2010
- Member of Committee of Management from 1994 to 2003
- Women’s Captain 1979/80
- Women’s President 1981/82
- President of SALGU 1987 to 1989
- Involved in organisation of Mixed Events from 1994 to 2009
- Regular volunteer over the years on course and in golf events as a starter, referee, marshall
- Represented the Club in Pennant competitions during the 1980’s
The funeral will be held on Friday the 9th August at 11:00am at 1 Webb St, Port Adelaide.
