Last week Jack Buchanan competed in the China Tour International Open Qualifying School in Hainan. In very difficult scoring conditions where only the winner was under par at 1 under, Jack finished in 37th place on +19 to obtain his card. He will now have a tour to play on during the Australian winter with the first tournament starting on 8th April. This week sees the final tournament of the Australasian PGA Tour at The National in Victoria. Unfortunately Jack did not receive an invitation to play. He is ranked 72nd on the Order of Merit from just 7 events that he played. Putting this into perspective there were 18 events held across the season. He will need to play in Qualifying School in April to try and improve his ranking for next season. He should be exempt from the first stage straight to the final stage from 9-12 April at Moonah Links.
On the amateur front Kade Bryant played in the Riversdale Cup in Melbourne where he had a solid week to finish in a tie for 26th on +5 after 4 rounds with scores of 73 71 76 73 = 293. This was equal best of the juniors in the field and second best of the South Australians. Next up for Kade is the SA Amateur Classic at Royal Adelaide from 19-22 March where he will be joined in the field by Jack Leonard and Max Jericho. This event has attracted a very strong field from across Australia with the low marker playing of +6.2! Maiya Jakupec will be playing in the concurrent women’s event the Rene Erichsen Salver. We wish our players the best of luck. If you can get to Royal Adelaide you are sure to see some high class golf.
