103 women came out on Tuesday to celebrate our annual Christmas Ambrose. The conditions were perfect, mild and still which suited both the golf and the costumes and as always a huge effort was made by the teams in an endeavour to impress the judges. We had some standouts; Reindeers, Snowflakes, Candy Canes, Santa’s letter boxes, The Christmas tables and a Bunch of Holly to name a few. Judging was unenviable with Shane announcing the winners for 2023 The Christmas Tree Ornaments – Joanie Connell, Sharon Broadbent, Suzanne Clark, Glenys Cook and Ruth Williams.
The competition of the day was another close affair with the team of Amanda Kirk, Willie Pernini, Cheryl Drill, Lorraine Lee and Suzy Bosley edging out the runners up Nuala Oades, Sophie Michos, Sue Siebel, Sue Aretzis and Suzy Harmer by the merest of margins 31 to 31.6
NTP winners were A grade Jan Dale Harris, B Grade Jill Gehling and C Grade Willie Pernini
Cathie Molloy in her 2nd ever event was our host extraordinaire for the day, organising and tweaking all the arrangements for our lovely lunch, wine raffle and Christmas quiz – which proved a little harder than usual thanks to our incoming VC Annabel Hamilton. Let’s hope a Golf de la Jenny event is not on her agenda when she heads into the Presidency!
Some other great news is the turkey gobbler has been spotted in Brighton so Christmas really is just around the corner and next year we hope to get a date back in early December for our celebration. Thanks again to our Greenkeeping, Golf Ops and Hospitality staff including Phil Day who put in a huge effort to enable such a successful event.
