Kooyonga beat Glenelg in the Pauline Sanderson Bowl

The Pauline Sanderson Bowl was played on Monday the 24th at Kooyonga Golf Club. Glenelg and Kooyonga have contested this event both biannually and then annually since 2012 after Pauline Sanderson donated a beautiful trophy and designed a competition that promoted matchplay between women with higher handicaps.

The current format saw a team of 9 players (with GA Handicaps between 20 and 30) take on Kooyonga on their home turf in this handicap matchplay event. Glenelg held the trophy but unfortunately Kooyonga were just too strong at home. Things were tight until the turn with the match all square but Kooyonga pulled away taking the event 6.5 to 2.5 .

Pauline was delighted that so many relatively new players contested this year as it had been her main aim when establishing the “Bowl”- our whole teams collective years of Glenelg membership was only 30 – Pauline alone has had 70 plus years at Glenelg and is a life member of Kooyonga!

Glenelg was represented by our Pauline Sanderson Ambassador Jean Roberts who joined with both teams and Pauline at a superb lunch served in the Rymill room.
