Juniors turn around fortunes with convincing victory

Report by James McDonald
(Team Manager)

Glenelg’s Junior Pennant team this week turned around their fortunes from the previous with a convincing 5-0 victory against Mount Osmond at Blackwood Golf Club on Sunday.

Jenny Lee, Haydn Booth and Sam Raschella all had strong 6/5 victories, with Jack Hynes and Todd Williams both keeping their opponents at arms length for the day.

Jenny and Haydn played very solid golf and didn’t give their opponent a chance all day.  They were up early and then just continued to consistently hit fairways and greens.

Sam found form with the long clubs and struck the ball nicely from the tee and fairway all day.  By the end of day he had the Sam swagger back and his confidence was up, hopefully he can keep this going for the rest of the season.

Jack worked hard all day and ground out a result.  He played an opponent who holed some long putts on him and his long game wasn’t quite were he may have liked it but he did what he need to.

Todd was well up in his game after the front nine but unfortunately he lost some concentration early in the back nine and gave some easy holes back. He finally got it back together and won on the 17th.

Unfortunately for the team, Jenny now leaves us to help the Senior women’s team defend their title.  The side will this week face a strong Flagstaff Hill team at Grange.  The team take some much needed momentum in to the round but we will need to be switched on right from the start.
