Won by: The Grange – 4 matches to 3.
The Bonnar Cup team competed in a home semi-final against The Grange on Sunday and came up just short loosing 4 matches to 3.
We were competitive in the early three matches but sadly could not get one across the line with Fletch Ryan, James Bridgen and Michael Ratajewski losing tight matches 1 down, 1 down and 2&1 respectively.
Numbers 2, 3 and 4 all performed well and returned winning results with Dale Penny, Ben Magi, Matt Jacquier winning 6&5, 2 up and 2&1 to square the ledger.
Playing at No 1 Ben Winton had a high-quality match eventually loosing 3&1 to see Grange get their 4th match in and win the day.
Thanks to the caddies, Kane Hyams, Keith Barnard and Justin Howard.
The Bonnar Group were competitive throughout the season winning 4 of the 6 matches contested and were disappointed at coming close yesterday but eventually not proceeding to the GF next week. We wish the Sanderson & Pike Cup and Sharpe Cup teams well for the finals next week.

Congratulations to the GGC Sunday pennant teams for all making finals. Especially the top spot achieved by the Sanderson and Pike teams. Best wishes to all for the finals from the Bonnar group.
Needing a win to secure 3rd spot, the Bonnar team journeyed to The Vines for a final round clash with top team North Adelaide this week and came away successful with a 5 matches to 2 victory to set up a must win home semi-final next week.
The group was strengthened with the experienced Michael Ratajewski at 4 and 1st gamer Adam Bryant at 6. Both returned victories to help secure the win.
Fletch Ryan squared his tight match at 7 then Adam Bryant, James Bridgen and Michael Ratajewski set up the win with 2&1, 4&2 and 2up wins respectively. Matt Jacquier completed a dominate 5&4 win at 3 to secure the vital 4th match. Ben Magi then fought out a great square on 18 leaving Dale Penny to come up just short against an in form North Adelaide No. 1.
We now look forward to taking on The Grange at home in next Sunday’s semi-final.
As always, thanks to the caddies, Tony Martin, Kane Hyams, Alex Manton, Keith Barnard, Carl Milne and Justin Howard. Thanks also to Braeden Kelly for his ongoing support and Matt Jacquier’s ever growing band of supporters.
We all look forward to taking on the finals next week at home.

Won by: Royal Adelaide – 4.5 matches to 2.5.
The Bonnar season re-commenced on Sunday after the TTG fixture was abandoned and the mid-season break. A somewhat depleted Glenelg group took on a strong RA team on a cool winter afternoon at Grange West. Unfortunately we could not quite get the job done, eventually going down 2.5 matches to 4.5.
Gus Heffernan got the team off to a great start celebrating his first Bonnar victory by winning his last 3 holes to finish 3&2 at No. 7. Fletch Ryan at 6 fought hard but eventually went down 2&1. James Bridgen finished an up and down battle all square on 18. Kane Hyams found his undefeated opponent to much to handle at 4 but Ben Magi continued his mid-season form to return a solid win 3&2 at No. 3. Unfortunately Matt Jacquier at 2 and Dale Penny at 1 took on a highly credentialed RA pair and could not produce the 2 final wins needed.
We remain 3rd on the ladder but the middle order is very tight. We take on top-placed North Adelaide next week at The Vines where a win or squared match maybe required to secure a spot in the 2022 finals – depending how other matches fall. The boys are keen to bounce back hard and take control of our destiny with a strong performance to round out the season next week.
Thanks again to this weeks hard working caddies Sam Ingles, Keith Barnard, Justin Howard and Craig Heffernan and the supporters that came out including Imelda Lynch.
We all look forward to a great challenge next week.

Won by: Glenelg – 5 matches to 2.
The loss of Henry Duregon and Ben Winton to Simpson Cup duties and the ongoing rotation of our junior brigade to balance possible finals options gave the Bonnar team a fresh look at Kooyonga this week to take on 4th placed Blackwood. In particular, Kane Hyams was welcomed for his 1st 2022 appearance and Gus Heffernan and Fletcher Ryan returned to both make valuable contributions during the afternoon.
Predicted afternoon rain did not eventuate and the team came away with a hard fought 5 matches to 2 victory to consolidate 3rd position. After 4 rounds, the top three teams all have 3 wins but we sit third on matches.
Fletch Ryan got us out of the blocks quickly and confirmed his potential with a great 5&3 result. Kane Hyams celebrated his return to Bonnar by carrying the right hand bunkers on Kooyonga’s 1st with a near 300 meter drive and proved too good for his opponent to come away with a solid 4&3 win. James Bridgen, fresh off a back nine 30 at Glenelg this week, then chimed in with a solid 2up to have us three matches in.
Gus Heffernan, performing a valuable role at No.4 and fought hard all afternoon to eventually go down 3&2. Mat Jacquier then returned our 4th win to seal the result. Having just missed the green left of 15 and watching his opponent hit it to 8 metres, Matt holed a very slippery 5 meter put for a great up and down to win the hole and his match.
Dale Penny played well again for his 6&4 win and finally, in near dark and as the predicted rain began to tumble down, Ben Magi fell 1 down on the 18th in a high quality match at No.1.
A great “All played well” 5 matches to 2 win.
The caddies included 3 father and son combinations which was great to see. Thanks to Steve Jacquier, Craig Heffernan, Keith Barnard, James Hyams and Justin Howard for their great support throughout the afternoon.
Next Sunday we look forward to another tough opponent when we take on Kooyonga at TTG.

Won by: Glenelg – 5 matches to 2.
The Bonnar boys took on a competitive Tea Tree Gully team for a 3rd round clash on an idyllic morning at Royal Adelaide GC.
The group welcomed back Henry Duregon and Ben Winton from Simpson Cup duties and, with the return of Ben Magi and Matt Jacquier, were confident of a strong showing.
Jack Leonard competed well all day but came up just short with a 2&1 loss to a tough opponent.
A welcome return to form for James Bridgen then squared the ledger with a solid 4&2 win.
Matt Jacquier and Ben Magi then returned solid 1 up and 4&3 respectively to get three games in. Matt playing a great 18th to get his 1 up and Ben’s ball striking was solid all day.
Dale Penny battled all day to eventually loose 1 down. However, Ben Winton and Henry Duregon proved too strong for their opponents and got us to five wins with really strong 5&4 and 3&2 victories.
It was a great win for the boys to get the season back on track and we now look fwd to taking on Blackwood at Kooyonga next week at 12:05.
All players had caddies this week, so thanks to Josh Hodgson, David Rosie, Adam Bryant, Kane Hyams, Gus Heffernan, Keith Barnard and Dale Leonard – the boys really appreciate your support.
Thanks also to the spectators including some of the Simpson Cup boys who came out to cheer us on.

Match won by Grange 5 matches to 2.
Hosted by a breeze and cool Blackwood GC the Bonnar team took on defending premiers The Grange GC. Three players out from our first-round team afforded a great opportunity for Angus Heffernan and Anthony Wang to be rewarded for their hard work throughout the pre-season and for the club to welcome Zac Bray to the Glenelg pennant group at No1.
Introducing three players to the group was always going to be a challenge against a strong opponent and proved to be too much this week.
Our young brigade of Anthony Wang (No. 7), Fletch Ryan (No. 6) and Jack Leonard (No. 5) battled hard in very tough conditions but were defeated 3&2, 4&2 and 3&2 respectively by the experienced Grange tail.
Angus Heffernan was thrown a real challenge coming in at No.4 and had a great match to eventually go down 3&2 and with James Bridgen exiting early it was left to the top 2 to salvage some pride for the team. Captain Dale Penny played some great golf to return a victory 3&2 and, notably, No.1 Zac Bray, with a severely interrupted lead up to the season, fought back from 4 down to win 2&1.
2 and 5 was a disappointing result but all matches were fought out hard and we look forward to a possible return match in the finals.
Thanks to the caddies Kain Hyams, Andrew Hodge, Keith Barnard, Hayden Ryan, Dan Leonard, Tony Martin and Adam Wang. Special thanks to Ruth Martin who took on the managers role in a cold and sometimes wet cart. Thanks also to the spectators braving the conditions including Rob Vincekovic & Paul Grosvenor.

Match won by Glenelg 4 1/2 matches to 2 1/2.
The 1st round Bonnar Cup match was hosted by North Adelaide GC in ideal golfing conditions on a calm but cool Sunday afternoon. Glenelg took on a competitive The Vines team with a blend of 4 experienced Bonnar campaigners and 3 first gamers (Matt Jacquier, Fletch Ryan and Jack Leonard).
Jack Leonard got our season off to a great start with a well fort 3&1 victory. Fletch Ryan also played well at no. 6 but went down 2&1 in the end. Our middle order then kicked in with James Bridgen putting brilliantly to return a tough 1 up and Matt Jacquier, thanks to a hot back nine putter, achieving a great first up win 3&2.
Three matches in, we looked to the top of the order for the crucial 4th match. Ben Magi, by admission not at his best, made an early exit and Dale Penny did what great captains do and returned a valuable half in a high quality clash.
That left no.1 Kade Bryant to come back from three down and complete a great 4 & 3 victory and clinch the win for the team.
A really solid start to the season against a quality opposition. Well done to the entire team and thanks to the caddies David Brand, Adam Bryant, Anthony Wang, Gus Heffernan, Keith Barnard Tony Martin and Dan Leonard.
We all look forward to taking on Grange at Blackwood next Sunday at 11:15.
