We welcome Ryan Van Der Veen to the Glenelg Golf Club team. Ryan has been appointed Project & Construction Supervisor and commences on Monday 2nd November.
Ryan originates from the USA and has lived in Australia for the past 10 years. Some of you may recognise him as he helped renovate over 20 bunkers on the course earlier this year and has assisted us in other planning and course enhancement work at Glenelg.
Ryan’s golf design and construction background started in the Chicagoland area of the USA where at an early age he was on heavy equipment shaping golf courses. His strategic design and construction knowledge stems from his early career working with the late Pete Dye on several high-profile projects including Whistling Straits (Three-time host of the PGA Championship and host of the 2021 Ryder Cup). Van Der Veen has 19 years of experience with Greg Norman Company working in various locations around the world such as; the links land of Ireland, deserts of Dubai, sand dunes in Vietnam, islands in the Caribbean, and pine forests of Spain. Van Der Veen has led redesign projects in Australia and most recently he was senior designer on notable projects like the exclusive Cathedral Golf Club in Victoria.
Van Der Veen recently branched out on his own in mid-2019 offering a handcrafted design/construct product and is now excited to partner with Glenelg Golf Club. Ryan joins our staff to assist and execute the upcoming course enhancement plan with Neil Crafter. After touring Australia for over 15 months, Ryan and his family are making Adelaide their home. This a fantastic opportunity for the Club and we are extremely excited of where Ryan’s skill and knowledge can take our Course into the near future.
