What is your role and how long have you been here?
I have been here for 12 years, and I think I am still the bar manager?? Back of house bar manager perhaps… perhaps just part of the furniture, who knows. Each day is different, it’s usually ordering stock, checking that stock levels are okay, checking with Rob and Lynn to make sure they are all good. And also annoying all of the bar staff while i’m at it, being the old grumpy man!!
What is your go to toastie?
Usually the Annie’s Special! It’s a secret toasty recipe.
What is your favourite part about working here?
Driving through the front gate. Knowing that I am coming in here, I think we are very lucky to work and be in an environment like this, with our members being nice people and nice to work for, and I think we should remember that we are lucky. You only have to look around right now where we’re having this interview, 18th hole, best hole in Adelaide. It’s a great golf course and a great place to work.
What is your favourite memory at the Glenelg Golf Course?
The day that I was offered the job. I left here, and I don’t think I touched the floor between the door and the car park because I had been offered the job that I wanted for such a long time. I randomly came in, and spoke with the manager at the time, and was offered the job. I went back to my old work and said I’ll see you later! That was in October 1998. It was absolutely great. I love it here.
