Women’s A3 into the Final!
Semi-Final, 1 July
Glenelg Defeated North Adelaide 3½ to 1½ – a strong win, now The Final! Congratulations.
Hitting off at 8.00am on a very cold morning at Mount Osmond, the Glenelg team was leading after the first three holes. After the seventh, four players were up, with one match square.
Jo Ricourt played strongly all day, mastering the hilly course to be 4 up after nine. Jo was our first winner, finishing at the 15th. Over the back nine Jo kept hitting the greens and when needed, played controlled recovery shots.
Sue Tuohy was square at the turn. This competitive match went to the 17th, unfortunately Sue missed a couple of putts on the back nine, to be just edged out.
Our number 3, Sue Raggatt played a commanding front nine: 5 up at the turn. Sue birdied the tricky par 4 seventh, then chipped in to par the eighth! Sue held her lead over the back nine, winning at the par 3 sixteenth.
Jo Lendrum was 2 up at the turn. Her long drives were hitting the fairways setting up a string of winning holes over the back nine, resulting in a convincing 5/3 win.
Jo L’s win ensured the team its third match, and on the way to the final!
Sandy Francas, playing number 1, had a very even contest against her long hitting opponent. Her match was not required to go past the 15th, with a halved match recorded: as was the score at this stage of Sandy’s match!
Again congratulations, and thanks to our most supportive caddies: Juliet Culley, Fiona Eblen, Jill Gehling, Bob Tuohy and Heather Waddy.
Next Monday’s Final is at West Lakes, against West Lakes, at 9.00am. a repeat of last year’s Final. All the best to this strong team!
