Sanderson Cup Report
Round 5, 30 June
Our girls were not quite up to their high standards this week and went down to Grange 5-0. We hope they can all bounce back next week for our home Semi final against Kooyonga.
Birdies were hard to get in the cold windy conditions and that’s what they had to do to win holes against the very steady Grange team.
Charley made a spirited come back from being well down early but could not get the birdies she needed for her last game of the season. She is travelling to Houston, USA today for an Australian Golf Camp for elite players and then playing 2 tournaments in California, so we wish her luck and hope she represents Glenelg GC well. We will miss you in the finals!
Emma struggled with her short game & putting and was 4 down after 9 holes. She fought on strongly after birdieing 9 and 10, but lost her match 4 & 3 to a tough opponent.
Elysia played some inconsistent golf on the last few holes of the front 9 to turn 5 down. She played some better golf on the back 9 and managed to get the match to the 17th, so a good fight back but lost 3 and 1.
Sarah was 2 up early and after 9 was 1 down. This match was quite close and Sarah had a brilliant birdie on the long par 3 15th to keep fighting hard. She was only 1 over par on the back nine but lost 4 & 2 to a quality opponent on the day.
Shakira played steady golf on the front 9 to be square, but her back nine was not up to her high standards and she went down 3 & 2. I am sure she will bounce back next week.
Many thanks to all our caddies and it was great to see many people out watching both our A1 & A2 women’s teams!
This Sunday we play Kooyonga at Glenelg at 11.15.
We look forward to the challenge of a home semi final and hope to see our members come and support both our teams!
It does make a difference so hope to see you out there cheering them all on!!
