Byes
The bye is treated as a team for the following reason: All decisions relating to initial GPL was based on the aim to increase play at clubs. For this reason, the bye is considered a team and receives the worst team completed score minus 2 points. This means that if a team doesn’t play, (an incomplete team score that is adjusted to the worst team score – 1 point), they will beat the bye by 1 point and guarantee a win. If a team turns up and plays well, they can get a little percentage boost.
Players do not receive ‘Best and Fairest’ points when playing against the bye.
