Glenelg Seniors suffer first loss

The Glenelg Senior Pennant team suffered their first loss of the season in the last minor round, losing 2/5 to Blackwood at Thaxted Park. The Blackwood boys generally handled the tricky Thaxted greens a bit better and deserved their win. The contest was a little closer than the scoreline suggests with 4 of our losing games going to the 17th hole or beyond.

Sandy Small at No. 5 played superbly to record a comfortable 6&5 win and Wayne Humphries at No. 2 snuck in for a 1 up victory.

Doug Clark at No. 7, Greg Kendall at No 4. and Mike Dobson at No. 3 were all competitive and took their matches to the 17th hole before losing their games.

Ian Foord at No. 6 had an even tighter match losing 1 down and Anthony Doyle at No. 1 had another tough assignment and lost his match 3&2.

The good news is that we had already qualified for the Semi Final and will play The Grange at Mt Osmond next Monday from 12 noon in an endeavor to win through to the Grand Final the following week. The team will welcome back John Keogh, Chris Whitford and David Chantrell for the Semi Final.
