Glenelg suffers narrow loss in Men’s Senior Interclub Final

2016 Senior Interclub Final - Chris Whitford (Glenelg) and Michael Jay (Royal Adelaide)Glenelg has fallen at the last hurdle, losing to Royal Adelaide in the Senior Interclub Final played at Glenelg. With the matches tied at 3 all it went down to holes and we fell short by 12 holes to 7.

Our top order of Anthony Doyle, Brian Welsh and Chris Whitford won their matches but David Chantrell, John Keogh and Greg Kendall at 4, 5 and 6 went down in a tightly fought affair.

Both teams were weakened by the absence of their top players in David Cherry and Wayne Humphries who were both overseas.

Our thanks go to Wayne Humphries for his efforts as Team Manger and to Chris Whitford who deputized in that role for the last 3 games.

2 of our players were undefeated, Brian Osborn with 2 wins from 2 matches and Jim Johnson with 2 wins and a half from 3 matches.

David Chantrell was our best performer with 4 and a half matches out of 6 with his only loss in the final when his opponent was just too strong on the day.

This Seniors Interclub series is a competition played between Glenelg, Grange, Kooyonga and Royal Adelaide. Grange defeated Kooyonga to finish 3rd.

We used 11 players in all and the following is a summary of all players’ results for the season:
