Junior Div 2 team halve The Vines

Glenelg's Division 2 Junior Pennant team

Well things didn’t go quite the way we planned, but that didn’t mean there weren’t some highlights. We halved the match, so not a win and not a loss, but we shouldn’t and don’t feel comfortable with the result.

Mitch Ward, 7/6 win. The only downside was he couldn’t go on and finish what possibly could have been one of his best rounds at Glenelg. Well done Mitch.

Calvin Perks, 1 up win. Lets go back to the 16th tee were Calvin was 1 up and loses the hole, and as we can imagine was not happy. On the 17th his opponent was in the middle of fairway, and Cal was right off the tee into water. A few of us by now might’ve thought that’s the game, but not Cal, who won the hole and halved the 18th. A never say die win. Gutsy win Cal.

Josh Gumm, square, had a battle on his hands with an opposition who was having a very good day around the greens. This was never more evident than on 18th. Josh’s opponent had a tricky 30 footer, and placed it 1 foot away resulting in a par. Josh on the other hand was on the right hand green side bunker for two, and was unlucky not to be on the green putting for eagle. Josh halved the hole. Unlucky Josh, well played.

Darcy Burns, after being up for a good portion of the day played some good golf, but went down after a purple patch from his opponent.

Kane Hyams played an opponent who’s Grandfather was a past SA Champion, and who’s Dad is very accomplished ex Glenelg player. Kane was up against it, but hung in there, so well done and a win is only around the corner.

We’re disappointed not having a home ground win, but we’re looking to this week against Tea Tree Gully.
