Glenelg vs Golf SA Fringe at Kooyonga Golf Club
Glenelg 3 defeated Golf SA Fringe 2
Report by Anne Marks (Team Manager)
Glenelg remain undefeated after four rounds of the 2012 Women’s A1 Pennant Competition after narrowly defeating The Golf SA Fringe side 3/2, and are now guaranteed a place in the finals.
Sophie James started strongly being 4 up after 4 holes, and continued playing great golf, driving the ball long to record the first team win, 6/5 against the experienced Reo Jenner.
Christine Beasley starting strongly being 3 up at the 6th, to be only 1up at the 9th. Christine played some match winning shots on the back nine to finish with a fighting 4/2 win.
Elysia Yap fought hard over the back nine to recover from being 4 down after 6 holes, striking the ball long and straight, with some very accurate approaches to record a much needed team win on the 17th.
Jenny Lee had an absorbing match against the powerful hitting Emma Ash. Jenny was square after nine, unfortunately played a couple of ‘loose’ approaches on the back nine and was defeated 3/2.
Amy Zhou, playing Rachael Taylor was 4 down at the 9th and played some inspiring golf down the stretch, including a chip-in on the 17th for a birdie, to get to the 18th, eventually losing 2 down.
A great team win and again thanks to the caddies Joy Green, Jane Zhang, Kay Nyland, Josie Hodge and Michael Beasley.

Another great win to the A2’s against The Vines to finish on top of the table and set up a final tie against Mount Osmond at Grange next Monday.
The manager won the toss again. The caddies were again awesome, Jill Gehling was on time, Sue Raggatt never took the bag offline, Jill Stone looked lovely in her yellow jumper and Ruth wore the black leggings. Chris has been nominated as the best looking caddie in the competition.
The players were good too! (Results below)

Glenelg vs Kooyonga at Glenelg Golf Club
Glenelg 4 defeated Kooyonga 1
Report by Jeanne Scardigno (Team Manager)
A tension filled day all the way.
We had no choice today, we simply had to win to make the final next week.
Although Cheryl Franzi won against Christine Flynne, 3/2, her opponent was fighting back. Janet Fleer was steadied by her caddie Barb Heald, and had a great win over Virginia Lacey 3/1. Peggy Lau Flux and Skye Jarvis were the only pair to make it to the 18th, and after a match being 1 up, 1 down and square for the entire day, Peggy managed a mighty win of 1 up. Chris Sullivan broke Barb Rasmussen’s heart and had a fabulous win of 7/5. Wendy Vaughan had a tough match today, but although being down 7 at the 10th, Wendy fought back to be defeated by Miriam Vanderzalm 4/3.
Well, done girls, it was a fantastic win, now bring on the final next week against West Lakes at The Grange!
