Glenelg vs Mount Lofty at Glenelg Golf Club
Glenelg 4.5 defeated Mount Lofty 0.5
Report by James McDonald (Assistant Team Manager)
This week saw the juniors put aside a disappointing loss to Kooyonga in the previous round to defeat Mt Lofty 4.5 games to a 0.5 at home. The entire team were focused and displayed an impressive level of concentration. This resulted in great decision making and shot execution.
The team was lead out by Hayden Booth and he fought his opponent and putting stroke all day. He did manage to hole two crucial 10 foot putts. The first of these putts was on the 17th hole to keep the match alive, the next was to win the 18th and square the match.
Todd Williams the captain led by example. Todd played solid match play golf to defeat his opponent comprehensively 7 and 5.
Sam Raschella has had an up and down season, but showed on Sunday why he is a highly regarded golfer. He demonstrated the course management and a level head we all know he possesses. He won his match without difficulty by a margin of 8 and 6.
Jack Hynes played his best match of the season. Jack’s ball striking was the finest I have seen this year. He was splitting fairways and on the par 3 11th hole his tee shot struck the pin. He followed this up by rolling in the subsequent birdie putt, another solid win 7 and 5.
Braeden Kelly was at his clinical best continuing to exhibit his tough match play style. He defeated a quality opponent 5 and 3, his victory rounded off a great day for the team.
Well done to the junior team, this was our best victory of the season.
