Simpson Cup
Round 6 | 23rd March
Location: Kooyonga | vs Thaxted Park
Glenelg 5 ½ def Thaxted Park 1 ½
No. 1 Kade Bryant def Joshua Dash 2/1
No. 2 Jack Leonard def Jordan Sherratt 4/2
No. 3 Josh Hayes def Matthew Hey 4/3
No. 4 Michael Munn def Lachlan Oakes 1 up
No. 5 Zac Bray lost to Matthew Rolton 2 down
No. 6 Mick Phillips def Lachlan Matthews 3/2
No. 7 Nick Wake halved with Lachlan Dash.
Thaxted Park are a young team with plenty of potential. However they have only won one match for the year and are fighting with Southern to stave off relegation. So they weren’t to be taken lightly as they had much to play for. We got off to a relatively slow start but as the day went on we were able to gradually pull away and record a comfortable victory.
At no. 1 Kade Brant played steady golf all day. He was never headed but going down the par 5 16th he was only one up before a stunning driver off the deck into the green set up a win on the hole with a rock solid par on 17 sealing his win.
Jack Leonard, fresh off an excellent performance in the SA Classic at Royal Adelaide, got off to a good start winning the first two holes. He was 3 up at the turn and closed out the win on the 16th.
Josh Hayes continued his excellent form. After a sedate start to be square through 5 holes he quickly kicked away to be 3 up at the turn to win 4/3 on the 15th.
Michael Munn had a battle on his hands against Lachlan Oakes with the margin never more than 1 hole either way. The match was square after 16 but Michael won the 17th and then a half on the last was all that was needed to seal a 1 up win.
At no. 5 Zac Bray was up against it for most of the day. He was 3 down at the turn but put his head down on the back nine and got the margin back to 1 down after winning the 16th. 17 was halved but he was unable to win the last.
Mick Phillips played solid golf all day getting to 2 up after 5 holes which was the margin for most of the day before winning the match on 16.
At no. 7 Nick Wake was in a close one against Lachlan Dash. Whilst he slipped to 2 down after nine holes he brought his vast experience to the fore on the back nine to get back to square after 12. However a loss on 17 saw him slip back to 1 down heading up the last. Nick hit two solid shots into the green while Lachlan had a few problems eventually conceding the hole and earning Nick a halved match.
Thanks to the caddies and supporters who came out to support us on a stunning autumn day on a beautiful golf course. Pennant golf in summer/autumn is great!
The win takes us up to third on the ladder going into the last minor round next week at Grange where we will be playing The Vines from 12.10 pm. Kooyonga will take top spot on the ladder into the finals but the other three spots are up for grabs. A win for us would ensure our semi-final position with the potential to finish second or third. Tea Tree Gully can’t make the finals and either Thaxted Park or Southern will be relegated.

Round 6 | 23rd March
Location: Willunga | vs Tea Tree Gully
The Sharp Cup Team in Round 6 played against the number 1 team on the ladder, Tea Tree Gully, at Willunga in some truly lovely weather. Our total at the end of the day was a very closely tied 2.5/2.5 match and I applaud our team and the effort that everyone put in.
1. Kyle Feltus Vs Lachie Gilbert. Kyle dropped the first hole but then it was a stead climb from there on out to claim a 6/5 victory on the 13th. Kyle’s win was highlighted by being a bogey free round!
2. Indie Danger vs Jack Haberfield. Indie played some very solid golf this week again, however it wasn’t to be as Jack was playing some very good golf indeed and Indie lost 8/6. Indie’s best shot was his 2nd shot on the 1st hole – a 6 iron punch shot from under a tree to 12 foot.
3. Cooper Lessue vs Ethan Sams. Cooper played another solid match this week, never more than 2 shots from square all day, which is also where the game ended, going all the way to the last hole in a fantastic drawn match. Cooper’s best shot was on the 13th hole where he put a PW from 100m out to 2 foot and sunk the birdie putt to win the hole.
4. Ava Strazdins vs Jay Mun. This was Ava’s first game in Sharp Cup and she played a very consistent game. After dropping the first hole Ava quickly made it back to be up 1 after 3, squaring the next 4 holes straight before dropping to square. On the back 9 she dropped the first hole then squared the next 8 holes straight losing down 1 after 18 holes – very solid effort indeed and she should be super proud of her first game in this division. Her best shot was on the 6th hole where she hit an easy PW from 115m out landing 15 foot from the hole, backspinning to finish 3 foot to the pin.
5. Zak Goers vs Miller Stevens. Zak has once again played a fantastic game this week building a steady lead throughout the game finishing on the 16th hole winning 4/2. Zaks best shot was on the 3rd hole, a par 3, putting his tee shot 3 feet from the pin and making the birdie putt to win the hole.
Everyone played some impressive golf this week against a very evenly matched team and I am proud of them all. Next week we take on Kooyonga at Tea Tree Gully nice and early in the morning for the last game before finals.
Go Team!!
Junior Div 2
Round 6 | 23rd March
Location: Willunga | vs Tea Tree Gully
An Epic Day at Willunga: A Victory for the Ages!
The sun was out, the fairways were pristine, and our team was ready to make a statement as we teed off against Tea Tree Gully at Willunga Golf Club. After a tough loss to Westward Ho the previous week, we were hungry for redemption—and the team’s spirit? Unstoppable. The scenic drive to Willunga set the stage for what turned into a day full of heart, determination, and some serious firepower.
Damia Muadz—A Debut to Remember!
Making her debut in reserve last week, Damia Muadz, our no. 5 player this week, was out to prove that she belonged among the best. Up against Ollie Kromanyk, Damia wasted no time. With the first hole barely in the rearview mirror, she was already 1 up, sending a strong signal that she wasn’t here to play around. Ollie found his groove after hole 4, evening things up, but Damia was on fire. With her trusty driver in hand, she made hitting fairways look easy, giving Ollie fits on every hole. By hole 13, she sealed the deal with a dominating 7 & 5 hole to win. What a comeback from Damia! Debut goals achieved, no doubt.
Cade Barnes— Master of the Course
Next up was our no. 4 player, Cade Barnes, facing off against Eddie Raymond. Cade was dialled in from the start—within just three holes, he was already 2 up. Eddie wasn’t backing down, trying to claw his way back, but Cade’s experience on this course proved invaluable. By hole 13, Cade had locked up a 6 & 5 victory. Another day, another W for Cade—and a solid one at that.
Mia Chinner—A Battle of Will and Skill
Our no. 3 player, Mia Chinner, was back in action, facing off against Tim Randall. It started a little rough for Mia, as she found herself 1 down after three holes. But Mia isn’t one to back down—she fought back like a true competitor, each hole a battle. Points were exchanged like a ping-pong match, and while Mia gave it her all, she ultimately fell short with a 5 & 3 loss. A tough loss, but Mia’s never one to back down.
Gareth Thien—A Rocket-Powered Performance
If anyone had a performance for the ages, it was Gareth Thien in the no. 2 spot. He came out of the gate with the energy of a rocket—already 2 up after three holes and showing no signs of slowing down. When asked about his shot of the day, Gareth’s reply was simple: “All of them!” And frankly, he wasn’t wrong. He obliterated Toby Cranwell 7 & 6, leaving little doubt as to who was in control. Gareth’s performance was nothing short of ruthless—simply unstoppable.
Levi Ashton—Captain, Clutch Performer
Finally, our captain, Levi Ashton, faced off against Neo Elliott in the no. 1 spot. It didn’t start off in Levi’s favor—he found himself 2 down after three holes, but this is Levi we’re talking about. He’s got ice in his veins, and his incredible approach on the 4th hole was just the spark he needed. With newfound momentum, Levi surged ahead, taking a 2 up lead by the 9th hole. From there, it was all smooth sailing as he sealed the deal with a 3 & 2 win, proving once again why he’s the captain. When the going gets tough, Levi delivers.
The Big Picture: A Win That Shows Our True Strength
What a performance! Each player stepped up with resilience, determination, and heart, showing that we’re more than just a team—we’re a force to be reckoned with. Thank you to Ben Yin for caddying Gareth as no reserve play this week. The victory was a true team effort, and we’re already eyeing our next challenge: round 7 at Tea Tree Gully against Kooyonga. Let’s bring it on, because we’re coming for that win!
- Levi Ashton (3/2) won against Neo Elliot
- Gareth Thien (7/6) won against Toby Cranwell
- Mia Chinner lost against Tim Randall (5/3)
- Cade Barnes (6/5) won against Eddie Raymond
- Damia Muadz (7/5) won against Ollie Kromanyk
Bonnar Cup
Round 6 | 23rd March
Location: The Grange GC (East) | vs Westward Ho
A shoulder injury to Matt Jacquier on Saturday forced a late charge for the group with Blake Wilby coming in at 7 to fill our roster. We all wish Matt a speedy recovery having endured so much injury in his elite sporting endeavours over the years.
Playing the lowly ranked Westward Ho we set out at 10:10 in perfect golfing conditions looking to raise the bar across the group and start building some finals momentum.
Playing No.7 Blake Wilby played a steady front nine to be one up at the turn. Unfortunately Blake’s opponent was forced to withdraw ill before hitting off 10 and, based on the playing conditions, Blake returned a 6&4 win to get us off to a flying start.
Ryan Fletcher, playing the No.6 game was down for much of his match, battled hard to claw back some holes towards the end and finished on the 17th 2&1 down.
Harry Edwards continued his stellar year with a great 4&3 win in the number 5 match. Harry remains undefeated for the season.
Determined to break his run of unlucky finishes, Ben Winton set out in the No.4 game hoping to turn things around. Playing well Ben soon established a lead and maintained his momentum to be 4 up through 14 holes. In an incredible turn of events his opponent then finish his last four holes three under the card to square the match. After the past 3 weeks, we all look forward to Ben continuing his form and enjoying a bit of luck when needed.
Dave Brand, returning from Simpson Cup duties, completed a great 5&4 win in the No.3 match.
The ever reliable Simon Gallie maintained his unbeaten form with a solid 5&4 win in the No.2 match.
Finally, Will Starkey, also in a rich vein of form, played some great golf for to finish on the 16th 3&2 up.
Final result had Glenelg winning 5 1/2 matches to 1 1/2.
Thanks as always to the caddies Darryn Conway, Jack Tanner, Dave Rosie, Leanne Edwards, John Ferrier and Keith Barnard.
We now look forward to the final home and away match at The Patawalonga v. Thaxted Park, hitting off at 12noon next Sunday.

Pike Cup
Round 4 | 23rd March
Location: The Grange GC | vs Southern
Result: Glenelg 4 – 1 Southern
The Grange Golf Club looked a calm picture, especially after LIV Golf, where what had been car parks a few weeks ago, were well covered fairways and tough greens to challenge all who ventured out.
Our Pike A2 girls played with a convincing 4-1 win over Southern in conditions wherethe weather was kind to us with barely a breath of wind and not too warm, thank goodness!
Match highlights:
No 1 player: Sarah Crocker’s opponent was solid and relentless. A great match by both girls where Sarah was taken to the 18th however lost 1 down. The match couldhave gone either way.
No 2 player: Bec Hughes found some of the waste land in the first few holes, where it is difficult to not only find the ball let alone hit it. Bec managed to turn the match around with a convincing 5 and 4 win.
No 3 player: Tonia Ross’ opposition was solid and committed to each shot, with her accuracy on the greens to be commended. However, Tonia’s dependable consistency came through at the right time with a 2 up win.
No 4 player: Lou Pike ever focused and solid with her persistence resulted in a top class win of 6 and 5.
No 5 player: Sam White also enjoyed a resounding win of 5 and 4, she enjoyed the challenge and her golf was strong and effective.
Our caddies are to be commended and I sincerely thank you all for your positive input to make our Pikies hit all their best shots. They include Ruth, Cath, Annabel, Nick and Hanna.
I would also like to thank Golf Ops, especially Shane, Ryan and Connor for all their assistance with team support and training sessions. Not an easy task.
It’s a credit to every player who has played or caddied this season in the Pike team. Ithink it’s not surprising our Pikies are doing so well and currently we are sitting 1st on the ladder. Keep it going ladies!
Over the last 4 weeks our team has shown respect and camaraderie for each other, knowing we are all able to correct our mistakes and turn the negatives into positives.
Next Sunday we play at Sandy Creek at 10:30am against Mid North.
Go Pikies!

Women’s A3
Round 6 | 24th March
Location: The Grange GC | vs West Lakes
After a tough loss last week, the A3 girls responded in style with a hard-fought 3-2 win over a strong West Lakes team at The Grange.
Match Results:
Jackie Burke (#5) – Won 3&2
Jackie put in another strong performance, maintaining control throughout the match. She established a solid lead early and was 4 up after 12 holes before sealing the win on the 16th.
Fiona Eblen (#4) – Lost 3&1
Fiona faced a powerful opponent in a closely contested match. After being 3 down at the turn, she fought back to within one after 15 holes. However, her opponent’s birdie on the long par-5 16th made it tough to recover, and Fiona’s match concluded on the 17th.
Sue Raggatt (#3) – Won 7&6
Our standout performer of the day! Sue came out firing, winning the first three holes and never lookedback. Despite dropping a couple of holes, she dominated the match and wrapped it up convincingly on the 12th. Fantastic effort, Sue!
Jo Rawson (#2) – Squared
Jo played her first match of the season after a finger injury and showed incredible resilience. After a slow start and trailing for most of the match, she battled back and took a 1-up lead after 16 holes. The match went down to the 18th, where Jo had some tree trouble but had an opportunity to square the hole and only narrowly missed the putt resulting in a squared match.
Jo Ricourt (#1) – Squared
Jo continued her excellent form in a tight contest, with no more than a one-hole difference throughout. Heading down the 18th at 1 down, she held her nerve under pressure. A brilliant greenside bunker shot set her up to win the hole, securing a squared match—and crucially, the overall team victory!
This fantastic team effort cements our position at number 2 and guarantees our place in the final. Our last minor round match next Monday will be at West Lakes against Royal Adelaide.
A huge thank you to our caddies—Lou, Nick, Cathy, Wendy, and Jill—for their support, and to Kathryn and Cathy for coming out to support the team!
