Last week saw the staging of the SA Amateur Classic (Men) and the Rene Erichsen Salver (Women) at Royal Adelaide. Glenelg had four members in action being Kade Bryant, Jack Leonard, Max Jericho and Maiya Jakupec. These events hold national and world amateur ranking status. The course was in pristine condition and played tough from the back tees especially when the wind got up in the afternoons. Max and Maiya missed the halfway cut but both Kade and Jack got through to the final two rounds, both on +8 with the cut at +10. Jack finished in 38th place at +14 after recording a solid score of 74 on the last day while Kade was 44th on +21. Next up for Jack and Kade is the Australian Junior Amateur from 9-12 April at Gosnells Golf Club in WA.
In the Senior Order of Merit events, Christine Trimmer recorded another win last week at Tea Tree Gully on 79 with Tonia Ross 3rd on 86. This was Christine’s third win of the season. John Keogh was the best of our men in 4th place in the super seniors on 81. This weeks event was at Thaxted Park where Tonia got the win on 77 with Christine in third on 84. Tonia and Christine hold the top two places on the order of merit after 6 events. Best of the men at Thaxted was Brian Welsh in third place in the super seniors on 78.
