This week our McMillan Shield team played Tea Tree Gully at Royal Adelaide. The course was in great condition and all the boys were extremely happy to get their games started. In very windy conditions, the course played extremely long for both teams and was a big test for all involved. It was a battle all day and I am very proud of all the boys on their attitude towards the day. Unfortunately, the team going down 3 ½ to 1 ½.
Indie – had a great battle against his opponent, it went all the way to the 17th. Indie had to give up a few shots to his opponent and worked hard for the team. He went down 2/1.
Brandon – had a very good battle with his opponent. He also tried very hard for the team but unfortunately went down 3/2.
Campbell – on his own admission didn’t have the day he wanted, what stood out to me is the competitor that Campbell is. It was a good to watch him fight his match all the way to the end, losing 2 down. I am sure he will bounce back next week!
Mitchell – he also had a good battle with his opponent, he lost the first 3 holes but bounced back with some good golf to win his game 4/3, which is his first win. Well done Mitch!
Gareth – had a wonderful battle with his opponent. The course played very long for Gareth, but he worked so hard. He had a putt to win his match on the last, it looked in the entire way but lipped out unfortunately. I was very proud of his attitude. Well done Gareth on your half!
The team supported each other very well and we all look forward to playing next week at Kooyonga. Thanks to the parents who helped out with caddying and getting through the day!
