Simpson Team Prevail in Tight Contest

Our boys had a 4.5 – 2.5 victory, in a tough battle with Thaxted Park at Royal Adelaide.

At No. 7, Jack Tanner – trailing 2 down early in his game, Jack responded strongly, and a brilliant birdie at the 18th saw him finish all square.

At No. 6, Anthony Olsen – in a strong seesawing game, Anthony’s opponent broke away on the back 9 to lead 3 up and this lead was too great to whittle back, we lost 2/1.

At No. 5, Ben Layton – jumped out of the blocks early to lead 5 up and while his veteran opponent fought back, Ben was always in control and won 3/2.

At No. 4 Jack Buchanan – in another of the very close games, Jack appeared to have control at 2 up through 15, only to drop 2 of the last 4 to end his match all square.

At No. 3, Frank Vucic – as with all the matches this was also very tight with Frank 1 up at the turn.  He held that lead all the way to the 17th, and with a masterful up and down, closed out with a 2/1 win.

At No. 2, Josh Hayes – another really close match, Josh played some great golf to take a 1 up lead through 17, then drop the last to finish all square.

Finally at No. 1, Jackson Kalz – with the overall result still in the balance, Jackson prevailed over a tough opponent 1 up to give our boys a hard fought victory.

Next week we venture to The Vines to take on Grange in a much anticipated match.
