2018 Women’s Opening Day

The President Cheryl Franzi opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. After introducing her Committee, Annette Rieniets (Vice President), Sue Tuohy (Captain), Sue Raggatt (Vice Captain) and Joy Green (Committee), the President advised the Meeting of Events that were held over the summer period.

The President then introduced Ben Kavenagh, General Manager who spoke about the Annual General Meeting to be held on Wednesday, 28th March.  Ben advised that the blue ballot paper was to be used to record your votes and that a quorum of one hundred people was required to change the Constitution regarding online voting.  A delicious lunch followed.

The Captain then spoke regarding the Winter Conditions for the coming season and of the events happening in Mad March, including the Veterans Trophy, March 13th and 27th and the Royal Adelaide Bronze Challenge to be held at Glenelg on Thursday, 22nd March for ladies with GA Handicaps of 15 – 25.  Another event was the Tuohy Trophy to be played on Sunday, 25th March, which is a Canadian Foursomes and is opened to everyone as long they are related but of a different generation.  The Glenelg-Grange Foursome Challenge is to be played at The Grange on Monday, 26th March and is also opened to all female members followed by the Captains Trophy to be held on 27th March

The Captain informed the Meeting that this year there will be two Swap Days, the first being end of July with The Grange and early October with Royal Adelaide along with the Pauline Sanderson event to be played on Thursday, 16th July at Kooyonga.

The Gladys Hay Women’s Interstate Series is from Monday 7th to Thursday 10th May at Glenelg and Starters and Scorers are required

The Captain advised that Pennant practices had commenced and announced the Team Managers

The Summer Saturday Eclectic was won by Elysia Yap with Net 57.

The President asked if there were any questions. Questions were asked by Heather  Whitford, Janet Fleer and Ali Wylie regarding the Booking Sheet, plug marks on greens and badly raked bunkers and a Summer Turkey Gobbler.  These will be attended to by the Women’s Sub-Committee in due course.
