15 year old Jack Buchanan has defeated 2015 Champion Jack Tanner to win the 2017 Club Championship.
It was a great tussle from the outset, after being square through 10, Buchanan managed to snare a 3 up lead through 18, a lead he then extended to 4 up with six holes to play. Not one to give in without a fight, Tanner won the next three holes to be 1 down with four holes to play. A great approach from Buchanan on the 15th saw him regain some momentum, 2 up with three to play. Pars from both boys on the 16th meant the match was dormie heading down the 17th hole. Tanner needed to win the hole and hit an impressive shot from the a tricky lie in the rough to the back edge of the green. Needing to hole the putt to keep the match alive, Tanner took an aggressive line just missing the hole. Full credit to both boys for the spirit in which they played the match.
