Another win to Glenelg in Pike Cup

Report by Joy Green
Team Manager

Sunday, 18th June was cloudy and cold with the sun not showing it’s face until 1pm. The A2 Women’s Pennant team played Royal Adelaide at Glenelg with a start on the 10th tee at 11.15am.

Emma Sutton played Jill McEwin and after a slow start, came home with a win of 5/4.   I didn’t see too many holes that she played, but did see the final (3rd Par 3) and her tee shot was within two metres of the flag. Well done Emma.

Shakira-Ann Kuys played Annabel Blanch (an old hand at pennant) but was square or up for most of the match with a great putt to finish 2/1.

Samantha White was up against Pauline Morrison and finished with a flourish on the 5th hole just missing a birdie to clinch her match at 6/4.

Cathy Symons played Sally Nobbs and after 9 holes was 7 up. There was little doubt the match would be soon over. Cathy won 7/6.

Tilly Miels played Miranda Waters from Royal Adelaide and was just ahead most of the match. Unfortunately her match caught up to the rear end of the A1 players and she had a wait on the final hole and subsequently lost to Miranda 1 down.

I was certainly pleased with all their games and I especially thank the families of Shakira and Tilly for their time and efforts ensuring the girls are available to play.

Thanks again for the tireless efforts of the caddies and well done to all the players.
