Unfortunately the girls fought hard all day in very windy, wet conditions at Kooyonga but could not get the win losing 1.5 to 3.5 to last year’s winning Grange team.
Elysia Yap No.1
Elysia won her match 2 up against SA’s no.1 player Ella Adam, so well done, a great win and good confidence booster for the rest of the season. She played really well all day and was helped by Bob Tuohy as her caddy.
Charley Jacobs No.2
Charley got off to a good start but was later hampered by a wrist injury she aggravated playing a bunker shot. She fought back well but lost 3 and 2 against Jin Young Yun.
Josie Gale (nee Hodge) No.3
Josie came up against Jean Wei Foo who was in fine form and holing some long putts. It wasn’t Josie’s best day losing 5 and 4, but her opponent played very well. I am sure Josie will bounce back next week.
Sarah Crocker No.4
Sarah probably outplayed her opponent Louise Glennon, but Louise was draining all her putts and Sarah was just missing hers. She was 1 down most of the way but played well to get back to square winning the 17th with a par, but could only square the last hole to halve her match. A great fight back Sarah!
Matilda Wheare No.5
Tilly fought hard all day against Alicia Smith, but her putter was not kind to her and she lost 1 down. She played some good golf and I was very pleased with her comeback.
Thanks to all the spectators that came and supported the girls. Most of the winning A2 team came out to watch too after their matches, so thanks for your support girls!
I would also like to thank all the caddies- Bob Tuohy, Holly Burns, Andrew Hodge, Tony Martin & Judy Davies (Tilly’s grandma).
We have a must win match next week at Blackwood vs Kooyonga and I believe all the girls will step up for this challenge as they have prepared well for this season.
