Over the weekend we welcomed some Committee Members and Key Staff from our Reciprocal Clubs of Bonnie Doon and Woodlands to the Club. It was a chance to showcase “Glenelg Golf Club” to these guests, and we were pleased with how they responded to the experience.
Our Clubhouse offerings and staff were exceptional, our course was challenging, interesting and looking great, and the hospitality shown from the Pro Shop and other members was very well received.
This is the second year of this event, with it being hosted by Bonnie Doon last year, and to be hosted by Woodlands next year. The purpose behind establishing this event is as a means to strengthen the relationships between the Clubs. It is a chance to extend the network of Glenelg Golf Club, so we can learn from our peers about what they do well, where they struggle, any trends that may be happening so we can pre-empt some movement in the industry and also to enjoy the company and stories with like-minded golfers.
Also of great importance was the competition for the Tri-Club Trophy, with Glenelg retaining the Trophy winning 5.5 matches to Woodlands 4 and Bonnie Doon 2.5. The three teams of 8 are drawn so that all players, play with someone different over the two days. It was played as a 2BBB Stableford competition with some of our Committee members carrying the load for some of the others, but what happens on tour stays on tour.
Our Captain thanked our visitors, and handed the challenge to Woodlands to host the event next year.
