It is a privilege to be able to present the 2016 Captain’s Report to members of Glenelg Golf Club – my first year as Captain of this great Club.
It was an honour to be elected as Captain at the Annual General Meeting in March, following in the footsteps of former custodians of our Club. I hope my stewardship in this role can continue the great work of those before me, and I look forward to working with your elected Committee of Management representatives over the next year as we further develop and enhance the member services and experiences offered here at Glenelg.
I believe our Club is uniquely positioned to adapt to the ever-changing trends within the golf industry. We continue to provide flexibility and affordability for our members and our modern, progressive outlook perfectly suits the needs of the market place

Our food and beverage operation is the envy of most golf clubs in Australia, as is our unrivalled Golf Operations team which includes some of the very best golf coaches available.
Our financial position remains strong. Debt reduction continues to be a focus for the Committee of Management, with the need for ongoing investment in our facilities and infrastructure also high on our agenda.
We are lucky to have a loyal membership base who act as great ambassadors for our Club. In recent years, many of the Club’s newest members have joined because of the involvement of family, friends and work colleagues. This engenders a community feel within the Club and is one of the key driving forces behind the casual, relaxed and friendly atmosphere experienced by members and guests.
I hope you enjoy reading about the activities of the Club in 2016, and I look forward to seeing many of you on our world class golf course in the coming year.
