In perfect weather and with The Vines in fantastic condition, Glenelg went down in another close contest 4/3 to Grange 1. Whilst disappointing to fall just short for the second week in a row, this was another pleasing performance from a team playing 4 debutantes.
With round 1 heated out, Glenelg has now had 17 juniors represent the club in three matches this season. This high level of representation reflects well on Glenelg’s Junior Program. The experience of competitive golf in a nurturing environment will no doubt drive players to become better at their craft.
Special mention to two of our debutantes: Noah Collison (5) who played smart golf all day, winning 6/5; and Oliver Nalepa (4) who, in a tight contest, showed fantastic temperament to win 1 up.
Eric Liao (3) and Harry Morrissy (6) battled bravely all day and will be better for the experience next week. Congratulations also to Josh Grundel (7) who showed poise beyond his years, winning 3/1. Yike Ma (1), Jade Kinita (2) and William Darker (playing reserve) all took their matches deep against quality opponents.
Thanks to Eliza, Darcy, Holly, Kane and Calvin who caddied for their team mates.
