It is with great sadness that we advise members of the passing of Doug Omond OAM, who passed away on Thursday, 3rd November 2016 aged 89 years.
Doug was the Club’s oldest living Captain, serving in the role from 1972 to 1973 . Doug served on the Club’s Committee for a total of 21 years and had always been a passionate Glenelg member despite being unable to play golf in his later years due to a back injury.
Away from the Club, Doug had a long and distinguished career serving the community, including as President of the Edwardstown Lions Club and through various other associations and organisations. His involvement was rewarded with an Order of Australia Medal for services to the community in 1984.
We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Doug’s family and friends.
