Report by Wayne Humphries
(Men’s Senior Pennant Team Manager)
After 4 rounds of the Men’s Senior Interclub Pennant Series, the Glenelg team is undefeated and likely to qualify for the Final to be played at Glenelg on August 19th.
This Seniors Interclub series is a competition played between Glenelg, Grange, Kooyonga and Royal Adelaide and with only 2 rounds to play before the Final, Glenelg has won 3 matches and halved 1 and needs just 1 more halved match to be sure of playing in the Final.
The Glenelg Senior team is a squad of 11 players who rotate around each week. The following is a summary of all player’s results up to Round 4:
David Chantrell – in his debut season has played 3 games for 2 wins and a half
Doug Clark – played 2 tight games for 2 halves
Anthony Doyle – another debutant – played his first game in Round 4 for a win
Andrew Grieve – has played ok in 2 games but has lost both encounters
Wayne Humphries – played 3 games for 2 wins and a loss
Jim Johnson – played 2 games for a win and a half
Greg Kendall – played 4 games for 2 wins and 2 losses
John Keogh – played 1 game for a loss
Brian Osborn – played 1 game for a win
Brian Welsh – another debutant – played 1 game for a win
Chris Whitford – played 4 games for 3 wins and 1 loss
The matches are played in great spirit on Friday mornings, generally in typical cold wintery conditions, so thanks to all the players for their commitment to the task and for representing the Club in good style.
So, a great start to the series, but we are all well aware that there is still a lot of golf to be played over the next 3 weeks.
