Women’s Fiona Pike Cup team go down to Grange

Glenelg's Matilda Wheare

Report by Sue Tuohy (Team Manager)

Unfortunately, Glenelg’s Women’s A2 team (Fiona Pike Cup) lost their second round contest to Grange (3-2) at The Grange Golf Club (East Course).

Wendy Greig playing at No. 5 came out of the blocks to be 3 up after three holes and to eventually win 5/4.

Louise Pike at No. 3 had a tight tussle with her opponent being two down after eleven holes but eventually went down 4/2

Matilda Wheare playing at No 1 was up at the beginning and was all square after eleven holes but a few errant tee shots on the back nine resulted in a loss of 3/2

In the meantime, Sue Raggatt playing No. 4, after being 2 down playing the 14th hole, came down the 18th all square only to lose the last hole with a missed short putt. We all felt for her.

Emma Sutton playing at No 2 was the last match to finish – a very tight match with Emma taking the honours 1 up.

Thanks to our small band of supporters and to the caddies which I am sure the players appreciated on a very difficult day with the wind and the rain.
