20 Ladies represented Glenelg Golf Club at The Grange on Thursday, May 12th in a Foursome Event, held annually since 1974.
The nett score from each pairing is totalled and the Club with the lowest score is declared the winner and holder of the Trophy for the year. Glenelg Golf Club were the victors this year, winning by 13.5 shots.
This event was originally a one off day organised by Vice Captain Margaret McCallister and her committee at Grange. The Glenelg Golf Club ladies enjoyed it so much they reciprocated the following year!
This is a unique event where players of every standard can participate and every shot counts. Originally envisaged to be as social as it was competitive Margaret tells me the Ladies wanted a unique trophy to match.
A large, impressive, bronze bowl was purchased by the Grange Ladies from an Indian store and the following year Glenelg Golf Club ladies added a wooden plith.
The trophy will be on display in the Trophy Cabinet near the change rooms for all to see.
