Report by Gary Edwards (Team Manager)
Despite losing to West Lakes in round one, the good news was that we have a lot of talent in the team and there were members in our squad who could not wait until round two.
Well they didn’t disappoint!!
Shakira Kuys playing at number four who, at 3 down was not about to let her very impressive record have a blemish, finished her match strongly to win 2/1.
Mitch Ward, playing number two and who, not known for being easy on himself, at 3 down said to me “Gary, I’m not about to let Glenelg, my club, down” went on to win 3/1.
Harry Edwards at number one, after a solid start, dropped to 1 down. But Harry, ever the thinker, dug deep to win 4/3.
Calvin Perks playing at three, and never one to get rattled, just got the job done to win 3/2.
Darcy Burns, after a great debut win playing reserve last week, just fell short in his match. There is no doubt many a victory will come his way in the future.
Kane Hyams, in his debut outing playing reserve, probably didn’t go the way he would’ve liked but he played well and we love having him in the team.
This was a good win for the group. Thank you to the non-players for their support and a special thanks to Josh and Christine Gumm for coming to support and caddy on a fairly bleak day, especially when Josh wasn’t feeling a 100%.
