Glenelg’s Cleek Stick team has started its season indifferently, halving their first match against Kooyonga, and going down to Mt Osmond on their home track in the second round.
Round 1
Congratulations to all the ladies who played in the atrocious weather conditions for the first round. The high winds and horizontal rainfall was continuous and keeping the ball on the greens was almost impossible. Nevertheless they squared the match. Jill Hage won 3/1, Liz Kelton was 1 up and Chris Larsen squared. Meredith lost 3/2 and Arja lost 5/3. A very good effort for our new team members.
Round 2
Second round of Cleek Stick at Mt Osmond started with showers, rather daunting for the players given the shocking conditions of last week. The Mt Osmond girls had the home advantage and of course, we are accustomed to the flatter course. It was a tough slog and after a slow start, Glenelg’s players lasted the distance better than expected.
We squared two matches and lost three. Maybe next week will be better on the home turf.
