A fighting win to Glenelg’s Sharp Cup team this week against Tea Tree Gully places Glenelg at the top of the table after round 2.
Jack Tanner continued his winning form going 2 up early in the round with a magnificent up and down from the bunker on the 3rd hole. Jack was pressured by TTG’s number one player but maintained his form and control of the match sealing the deal on the 17th to win 2/1.
Marcus Kuys played the round of the day with solid pars on the opening three holes. Despite only being 2 over the card after nine, he found himself 1 down with his opponent playing great golf. Marcus birdied the 11th and 12th holes to turn the momentum in his favour and took the lead on the 16th with another par. A missed putt on the 17th had them square going up the 18th which is where it finished. Two-over the card for the round – well played!
Aaron Buchanan also played well early with a birdie on the 3rd but found himself 2 down after six holes. It was a very tight tussle all day with Aaron fighting his way to be square by winning the 16th but unfortunately gave it back on the next hole and halved the 18th to go 1 down for the day.
Jack Buchanan played against his fellow U12 State representative and good friend Jimmy. An epic match of skill and nerves as they both played quality golf trading blows around the greens. Square after the 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th and 15th, it was no surprise it had to be decided on the 18th with Jack’s sublime wedge and putt to win the contest 1 up shooting five-over the card. Great golf Jack.
Mitch Ward jumped out of the gates to be 3 up after three and was able to stretch his lead to be 6 up after 12 holes. His opponent Sean was able to peg three back in a row before Mitch decided enough was enough and won the next hole to post a 4/3 finish. A decisive win by Mitch. Well played.
Next match will be against Grange at Grange.
