Another win places Bonnar Cup team in 2nd pos’n

It was great to see the Bonnar Cup boys produce their third win of the season against The Vines, 4-3. Great weather and terrific course conditions at Kooyonga saw some excellent quality golf played.

In his first pennant match of the season, veteran campaigner James McDonald backed up his Saturday competition win with a 7/6 victory at No. 3. Leading all day and 6 up at the turn – a very solid performance from J Mac.

After a flying birdie, birdie fast start Braeden Kelly was 5 up at the turn and won 7/5 at No. 2

Ben Magi got off to a great start and was 2 up through four. He played solid golf to hold onto his lead and won 4/3 at No. 5

Returning from Simpson Cup to play his first “B” match of the season, Henry Duregon faced a solid competitor and although he fought it out all day, he was unable to produce a win losing 5/ 3 at No. 1

Liam Kennewell played some great golf but faced a strong competitor losing 3/2 at No. 6.

Jackson Kalz got off to a strong start and turned the front nine square. Unfortunately, Jacko couldn’t get enough putts to drop and lost his match 2 down at No. 7

With the overall result in the balance, Ben Layton stepped up and closed his match out 3/1 at No. 4, this was an exceptional win and a great fight back by Ben who was 2 down through ten holes.

As always, thank you to the caddies, the unsung hero’s – Fleur Kalz, Mark McDonald and Paul Duregon. It was also great to see many members from the club supporting the team throughout the day.

A big thankyou to Team Manager, Wayne Humphries, for his support of the team so far this year!  Wayne is always looking out for the players; he also provides undoubtedly the best snacks in South Australian golf.

The next match of the season is Sunday at North Adelaide against Kooyonga. A match for which the result will be of significant importance given the tightness at the top of the “B” table.
