Our final A2 round was held at Flagstaff Hill – what a thrilling finale!
Blackwood needed to win to have any chance of making the final – the pressure was all on them. Our contest went down to the last put on the 18th – WE WON!
Anne Marks and Jill Gehling made their 2014 debuts this week.
In a battle of the “Lefties” Anne at number 5, made it to the 17th but went down 3 and 1.
Jill at number 4 had a mighty match all day, going from 2 up to 2 down and back to 1 up before finishing the day all Square
Louise Pike, at number 3, had yet another match go to the 18th. This time she made a miraculous half, after finding the water hazard near the green, to Square her match
Sue Raggatt, at number 2, with Sue Tuohy doing caddy duties, had an early awesome 7 and 6 victory – a great way to finish the season.
Bec Hughes, was given the tough assignment at number 1 this week and did the job superbly. She was all square heading down 18 and was able to put a long putt right next to the hole. Her opponent put her putt a metre past and missed the one coming back – a fabulous 1 up win to Bec giving Glenelg the win over Blackwood.
Our season has been one of mixed fortunes. Quite a few matches were lost or halved on 18 – just one or two of those going our way and we would have been in the final. We have a strong stable squad and look forward to a better 2015.
