In an effort to offer some added variety and interest to the Club’s annual match and social calendars, and to encourage participation and camaraderie amongst members, a new event is being held in conjunction with ‘The Open’ golf championships in July.
The new event will be made up of two components:
- ‘The Open’ Dinner, a three-course British themed dinner on Friday, 18th July from 6:30pm, with pre-dinner drinks from 6:00pm
- The Captain’s vs Vice Captain’s Matchplay Event to be played on Saturday, 19th July from approximately 12:00noon
It is hoped this event will become a key part of the Club’s annual fixtures and become one of the most popular events on the calendar.
Event Cost
$70 per person – includes dinner & golf (beverages not included)
$50 per person – dinner only (beverages not included)
$20 per person – golf only (priority for golf will be afforded to those attending the dinner)
‘The Open’ Dinner – Friday, 18th July
The British themed three-course dinner will play an important part of the event with players to be selected for the Captain’s and Vice Captain’s teams by random draw, and with pairings and tee times for the Saturday better-ball matchplay event to also be announced throughout the evening. The banter and camaraderie amongst dinner attendees will hopefully generate great interest and atmosphere whilst ‘The Open’ is shown on the big screen TVs around the clubhouse.
Participants are encouraged to invite family and/or friends to dinner to join them in the evening’s festivities.
Captain’s vs Vice-Captain’s Matchplay Event – Saturday, 19th July
The Captain’s vs Vice Captain’s matchplay event will be played on the Saturday, with both teams fighting for the “President’s Claret Jug”, a new trophy to be housed in the Club’s trophy cabinet.
The event will be a 2BBB handicap matchplay (side bet) event with all players to play in the regular Saturday competition, which this year will be the AH Smerdon Memorial Par event. Groups of four will hit off from approximately 12:00noon from both the 1st and 10th tees with presentations to follow in the Members Lounge & Golfers Bar and tasting plates provided per group.
Entries will be taken on a first-come basis, closing on Wednesday, 9th July 2014, and will be restricted to 80 players in total (40 players per team). The event is open to any male or female Full, Provisional, Intermediate or Junior member, with priority for golf afforded to those attending ‘The Open’ Dinner on the Friday evening should entries exceed 80.
It is hoped that all participants in the golf event will attend the Friday dinner to ensure maximum atmosphere and enjoyment. All members are invited to attend ‘The Open’ Dinner.
Entry forms for dinner and golf are now available, with bookings for the dinner only to be made with the Administration Office or Bar.
We hope that members will embrace this new and exciting event. For any further information, do not hesitate to contact the Administration Office or Pro Shop.
