The closest of friends are set to fight it out in tomorrow’s Women’s Club Championship final, after beating their experienced counterparts in this morning’s semi finals.
The country’s fifth ranked amateur, Jenny Lee, played some of her best golf to defeat Cathy Symons 7/6 to book her place in the 36 hole final.
The second semi between Elysia Yap (ranked 38th in the country) and Jill Hodge was a much closer affair. With Yap standing on the 17th tee 1up and with a three footer to take that margin down the 18th hole, a surprising miss saw the match all tied through 17 holes. A solid par from Yap was enough to take out the match after the cross bunkers got the better of Hodge, resulting in an unfortunate bogey.
In the B Grade Championship, Janet Fleer defeated Ros Osborn 2up, while Barb Deed narrowly defeated Peggy Lau-Flux 2/1 and will meet Fleer in the 27 hole final.
Glenys Bartlett defeated Marg Magarey 8/7 in the first C Grade Championship semi, while Carmel Fairweather defeated Pat Aitken 3/2. Their final will take place over 18 holes.
