Josh Hayes has taken out the 2013 Boys’ Club Junior Championship with a convincing 6/4 victory over number one qualifier and Glenelg Trophy winner, Sam Raschella, in the 18 hole matchplay final played on Sunday.
Hayes was in crushing form all day after earlier knocking out Will Starkey in the morning semi-final match on the 14th hole, 5/4. Raschella overcame a tight tussle in the morning with youngster, Liam Kennewell, to win his finals berth on the 16th hole, 3/2.
In the Boys’ Handicap Matchplay Championship, Josh Hodgson defeated Sam Williams in a extremely tight match, eventually taking out the title on the 18th hole, 1up. Williams had earlier been taken to the 21st hole in his semi-final match against Jackson Kalz, who came from behind to push Williams into extra holes.
