Glenelg’s Women’s Grade 1 pennant team will contest this Sunday’s Pennant Final against The Grange after a comprehensive 5 – 0 victory over Blackwood at Kooyonga yesterday.

Glenelg finished top of the table for the second year in a row, while in the crucial match of the round, The Grange defeated the Golf SA Team 4 – 1 to grab their spot in the final against the defending champions.

Glenelg made easy work of Blackwood 5 – 0, with Jenny Lee, Elysia Yap, Amy Zhou, Josie and Jill Hodge all winning comfortably, setting a strong platform for next week’s final. Glenelg’s Jenny Lee and Josie Hodge are undefeated for the season

In next week’s final hosted by Glenelg, the home side who are the defending champions will be gunning for its 20th title. With Jenny Lee, Elysia Yap and Josie Hodge playing all minor round matches, Glenelg will have some tough decisions to make on its final two players.  Sophie James and Jill Hodge have both played four games, while Amy Zhou has played two.

In yesterday’s other match Royal Adelaide finished its season on a high, with a victory over Kooyonga.

All eyes were on the contest between The Grange and Golf SA with the winner progressing to the final.

The Grange was off to a flying start with early wins to Jean Foo 5&4 over Zoe Taylor and Cassidy Evreniadis defeating Caillin Lakin 7&5. When Ella Adams won her match 2&1 over Cecilia Douglas, the Grange had secured a place in the final.

Louise Glennon was also a winner for The Grange while Rachel Taylor was Golf SA’s only victor.

The Golf SA team would certainly be happy with its season, improving on a sole victory last year to win three matches and challenge for the final.

Wins to Juliet Hugo, Megan Bleeze, Jovanna Bozanic and Caitlin Roberts ensured Royal Adelaide finished the season on a positive note against old rivals Kooyonga. The Final result was 4 – 1 with Rachel Fry securing Kooyonga only game up against Ros Brebner 7&6.

The Grange will be looking to claim its 5th title and first since victory in 2004. The Grange team will likely be Kristalle Blum, Louise Glennon, Cassidy Evreniadis, Jean Foo and Ella Adams.
