There has been some evidence of spraying being undertaken by people other than members of our Course Maintenance Team.
While it may be tempting for some to “help out” where they see a need, it is critical that spraying is left to our qualified staff. The use of the incorrect product has caused significant damage to turf (see image), and this can be spread further if our staff are not aware of areas that have been treated.
Once applied, some products can re-activate the next day if there is a dew, and this can then be tracked by mowers and maintenance equipment first thing in the morning. Our staff spend a lot of time planning when, where and what to spray, always with a view to reducing exposure to members and themselves, as well as the risk to desirable turf.
If they are not aware of spraying that has been undertaken, these risks can increase significantly.
So, while we appreciate the thought, please refrain from doing any spraying, for benefit of everyone and the course.
