The Club’s top juniors fought it out in windy conditions on Sunday, in an attempt to secure a spot in the Match Play rounds of the 2012 Boys’ Junior Championship. As expected, State representative Lachlan Booth qualified first with scores of 75, 79 (154 total) ahead of smooth swinging Jack Hynes (161 ), Jake Hurst (162) and Will Starkey (169).
Last year’s Champion, Sam Raschella, disappointingly missed out on a spot in the Match Play by a solitary stroke, with a morning round of 89 (170 total) doing the damage. He will attempt to win some silverware in the Handicap Competition, qualifying ahead of Sam Williams (171), Liam Kennewell (187) and Josh Hodgson (189).
The Club’s future looks bright with Liam Kennewell (Age 11) and Jackson Kalz (Age 12) both fighting hard in tough conditions, in only their first official 36 hole Junior Championship event at the Club.
