Glenelg 3.5 defeated Kooyonga 2.5
Glenelg’s Senior Interclub team has tasted success for the first time in the 9 year history of the competition, defeating Kooyonga at The Grange Golf Club last Friday.
The team representing Glenelg in the final was:
Deane Harris defeated Geoff Raneberg 6/4
Wayne Humphries lost to Doug Dick 5/4
Jim Rawson squared with Graeme Smith
Michael Dobson squared with Tony Timmins
Graham Stone defeated Trevor Dolman 3/2
Barry Robjent squared with Jack McKean
Other players that made up the team during the year were Chris Whitford, Dennis Prider, Brian Osborn, David Allen and Peter Campbell.
Our win was down to the wire so to speak with two matches to be completed and the match score 2.5 to 1.5 in our favour. As our last two players, Mike Dobson and Jim Rawson stood on the 18th tee, they were both one down. A thrilling finish saw them both win their holes and square their matches getting Glenelg over the line with a winning score of 3.5 to 2.5.
Congratulations to all players involved throughout the season, with particular mention to Graham Stone for his efforts throughout the year as Team Manager.
