Glenelg vs Blackwood at Grange Golf Club (West Course)
Glenelg 4.5 defeated Blackwood 0.5
Report by Anne Marks (Team Manager)
After round 3, this team has remains undefeated! However against Blackwood three players had to ‘dig deep’ for a great team win 4½ to a ½.
Sophie James finished early with a 6/5 win, again driving the ball long and finding many greens in regulation with good iron shots. Christine Beasley, after a slow start, played accurately off the tee to quickly move to 3 up, finishing with a most convincing 4/3 win.
Jenny Lee had an absorbing match against the very steady Joanne Buchanan, finishing with a great 6 footer on the 18th to square her match.
The match of the day found Amy Zhou drawn against Lorrie Brown, a highly respected and most skilful pennant player. Although Amy hit further off the tee, she had to match Lorrie’s accurate shots to and around the greens, and hold off Lorrie’s strong finish for a 1 up win.
Elysia Yap, playing her first pennant match this season and steadied after an inconsistent front nine. Elysia came from 3 down early in her match to outplay her opponent, Donna Olson, over the back nine, to finish on the 18th with a well fought win.
A strong team, with this year’s Club Champion, Jill Hodge, rested after last Friday’s 36 hole match-play victory against Sue Tuohy.
Thanks to the caddies, Joy Green, Jane Zhang, Kay Nyland, Josie Hodge and Michael Beasley.

Glenelg vs Blackwood at Tea Tree Gully Golf Club
Glenelg 4.5 defeated Blackwood 0.5
Report by Heather Waddy (Team Manager)
What a day for the A2’s, playing Blackwood at Tea Tree Gully to hold their position on top of the table. It started off with the manager skilfully winning the toss!
Cathy Johnson then bolted to a 3up after 3 hole lead and was never caught, winning 3/2.
Sue Tuohy came next, beating Doris Hajsan3/1 at a critical stage of the proceedings, with some inspired putting.
Matilda Wheare, in her first match held together over a long and hard battle, finishing on the 18th green 1up.
Jess Burns squared the match. She played a very experience pennant player in Jenny Watson who has an amazing short game. Jess was very impressive all day.
What can be said of Sarah Griffiths? We know she had an appointment at 3:30; perhaps she should make one next week too, winning 9.7 for a very early finish. No trouble getting to her appointment! She was 2 under par at that stage.
To complete our great day, the Vines were beaten all but confirming our spot in the final in a few weeks.
Congratulations girls and thank you to our team of caddies too.

Glenelg vs Tea Tree Gully at Kooyonga Golf Club
Glenelg 3.5 defeated Tea Tree Gully 1.5
Report by Jeanne Scardigno (Team Manager)
On Monday June 18th, Glenelg Cleek 1 Team played against Tea Tree Gully Golf Club at Kooyonga Golf Club. Yet another close finish on a wet and sometimes windy day.
Wendy Vaughan had a great day out, she even eagled the 13th to win her match against Jan Taylor 6/5, well done Wendy on a fabulous win.
Although Sandy Dolman was up all day, her match against Shirley Blewett was tense, but Sandy was able to win 3/2, another great win.
Peggy Lau Flux’s match with Gaynor Ludlow, was square until the 8th, then Peggy put her foot down and manages a 4/3 win.
Cheryl Franzi played Saya Rasilairen, the match was 1 up, 1 down, square all day, and after 18 holes Cheryl and Saya were square to halve the match.
Janet Fleer’s match with Robyn Arnott, was all square at the 8th, then after losing the 9th, Janet was 1 down, and that is how her match finished, a very tough battle.
Glenelg won the day 3.5 to 1.5, and if my information is correct, and Kooyonga won 3 and 2 today, we are sitting equal 2nd on the ladder with Kooyonga, who we meet next week at Glenelg. If we manage a win against Kooyonga we will finish 2nd and play West Lakes in the Final, here’s hoping! Well played team, a fabulous effort!
