Glenelg vs Kooyonga at Blackwood Golf Club
Glenelg 4 defeated Kooyonga 1
Report by Anne Marks (Team Manager)
The A1 team played match winning golf against Kooyonga, displaying great course management skills over a wet course, and afternoon conditions that were very cold, windy and showery.
Jenny Lee had a very even match against the experienced Lyn McGough, finishing in the near dark for a well fought half.
Amy Zhou again played strongly, driving straight and long all day, and hitting greens with accurate iron shots for another impressive 5/4 win.
Sophie James also hit her tee shots long, and particularly playing the par 4’s very well for a strong finish, winning 5/4.
Jill Hodge was up after the first 9, but had trouble reading the greens on the back nine to finish square.
Christine Beasley played good wet weather golf all day. Her new driver worked wonders and her ability to read the greens for a couple of long putts was sensational – a great result winning 4/3.
Many thanks to the caddies – Joy Green, Jane Zhang, Kay Nyland, Cath Symons and Heather Waddy.

Glenelg vs Royal Adelaide at Royal Adelaide Golf Club
Glenelg 3 defeated Royal Adelaide 2
Report by Heather Waddy (Team Manager)
What an exciting finish for the A2’s, to beat Royal Adelaide 3/2 on their home ground.
Cathy Johnson jumped out of the blocks in her match to go two up after two holes. Unfortunately she was raked in by her opposition losing 4/3.
Anne Marks was beaten on the 18th after a long hard struggle. Thinks looked grim, but then Jayne Staridas snatched victory from the jaws of defeat to win the last three holes and take her match 1up. Sarah Griffiths had an early finish 4/2 while Sue Tuohy completed the overall victory on the 18th hole.
Congratulations to our A2’s, now top of the league.
Women’s Cleek Stick – Round 5

Glenelg vs North Adelaide at Flagstaff Hill Golf Club
Glenelg 3 defeated North Adelaide 2
Report by Jeanne Scardigno (Team Manager)
A hard fought victory on a cold and wet day.
Although Cheryl Franzi spent most of her match with Helen Silvi, either 1 up or square, her win of 2/1 was hard fought. Helen came out of a bunker on the par three 7th, straight into the hole!
Janet Fleer’s match with Judi Wilson was equally close all day but Janet was defeated 2 down.
Peggy Lau-Flux and Jenny Mitchell had a great match, with Peggy winning 3/2.
Wendy Vaughan played a very steady Young Mi Ko, and although Wendy was down by 3 early in her match, she came home winning 5/4.
Sandy Dolman and Wendy O’Connor were a well matched pair, but with Sandy having to give 3 strokes, she was defeated 2/1.
Thank you to all the girls yesterday and thank you to Barb Heald, our reserve, for her encouragement and company.
